GA - The Best Review in Town

So for those of you who missed the whole ordeal - the CSSA's General Assembly commenced this past Wed. as planned (and as per numerous emails ;) . Aside from some minor setbacks (ie. an entire room full of people having some sort of meeting in our room when we arrived to set up) it went really well.

The Co-President (ie. Eric and I) spoke for a bit about the CSSA's vision, structure, and 1st year rep. position and then each of the 4 committees director teams had a chance to speak about their goals, meetings, and upcoming events. Don't worry if you couldn't make it! Just join one of our 4  facebook groups listed in the email we sent out a day ago. Or feel free to email...or even comment here!

Ooo, and we also sold Membership Cards which entitle you to unlimited committee events and CSSA positions...if you want those you have to attend a committee meeting. The committee directors have them.

All in all the GA was a blast. Its awesome to see students come together to get their careers going somewhere other than class (zzz..).

Alas, until next update ado!

CSSA General Assembly

Hey! So as you've probably heard, our General Assembly has been set for 5pm on Wed. Sept. 24th, Student Center Rm. 430. It should be really valuable for those of you who want to get a good start in our club or just see more about what we do. It makes a big dif to see people face to face - u can share ideas, actually make an impression.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see there - but we think we got it pretty stacked.

Check it out. If you can't make it but really want to get involved it might be a good idea to email the committee director in order to arrange an in person meeting. They really consider that when giving out committee positions.

Stay tuned.

First 08-09 School Exec Meeting

The Execs reunited since their retreat this past week to discuss how The York Info Day Fair went (a lot of new interest) and how in-class promos are going. They seemed to be successful from our end but if you were witness to these promos and have any feedback (eg. clarity, persuasiveness, excitement?) please let me know!

We also focused a lot on the planning of our upcoming GENERAL ASSEMBLY. As you may know, this is a big opportunity to meet the CSSA execs firsthand and learn how to get more heavily involved in our club's events and meetings.

A slight roadblock was finalizing room location. Some rooms at York (eg. lecture halls) require over 10 pages of forms to be filled out and take weeks to go through. Damn the beaurocracy!

Nonetheless, I think we got a wiked place booked. Don't want to spoil the details just yet...but stay tuned ;)

08 Executive Retreat

So... I figured I'd give a little update for those of you who are not informed of what the Exec. Retreat is all about and what we accomplished this year. So, it has been established as a CSSA tradition (or at least since last year) that all the Execs pack up and spend a high impact weekend together in the midst of Picton, ON.

This year much was accomplished including planning of many great upcoming CSSA events !! (so awesome this year, seriously) and a lot of Mafia playing. For those of you who are not familiar with this game please comment and I will find a way to make rules available. I'm warning you though; this game is addictive.

I'll try to get some pics and a mafia video posted FYE (For Your Entertainment) ;)
